Ron Colyer (Leader)

Ron Colyer was a member of the Philharmonia and BBC Symphony Orchestras before becoming a freelance player; he now performs mainly in chamber music.
Recently, together with the pianist Nigel Wilkinson and cellist Paul Cox, he performed in a series of concerts covering the complete violin sonatas, cello sonatas and piano trios of Beethoven. Following the success of the Beethoven cycle, the trio embarked on a series of six recitals exploring the chamber music of Schubert and Brahms at the Norden Farm Centre for the Arts in Maidenhead.

A sought-after teacher, Ron teaches privately and for the Berkshire Young Musicians Trust Scholarship Scheme. He is a tutor for the Music Teachers in Professional Practice postgraduate diploma course at Reading University. Ron is also an experienced teacher of the Alexander Technique and directs an Alexander Technique teacher training course at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts.
